Welcome to my new Photography blog featuring cemetery statue photos that I've taken across the world. I plan to update it a few times each week with new photos and some info and links about each cemetery featured.
The image shown here today is from
Lakeview-Cemetery in Cleveland Ohio. This is known as the
Haserot-Monument or also know by the name Angel-Of-Death-Victorious. Most people make the mistake when first viewing this statue that the Angels hands are folded over a sword, but it's actually an upside down torch, symbolizing lives extinguished. The Patina of the statue has an effect to make it appear that the angel is crying for the lost souls. I hope I have captured the mood in this photo.
The Haserot family were known for their canned food goods, and more info can be found on the
Northern-Haserot site.
